Objectives:

1. Students learn what a fossil is.
2. Students learn about the Geologic Time Scale.
3. Students learn what an index fossil is and what qualities it should possess.
4. Students will learn what a fossil assemblage is.
5. Students will use a fossil assemblage to determine the ages of the bedrock between the Mississippi River and Chicago.
